Who we are

We are a friendly group of Christians from a wide range of different cultures and backgrounds and we welcome visitors from any background, age, religion or experience.

We are an independent Reformed Baptist Church, affiliated with the Association of Grace Baptist Churches (South East). We have been meeting together for worship in Belvedere since 1805, and are the oldest place of public worship in Belvedere. Our worship is simple in style, and both reverent and joyful in approach. Our worship focuses on the triune God revealed in Scripture, as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. You can read more about the history of our church here.

What we believe

We are a reformed and evangelical Baptist church and believe the Bible to be the final revelation of God to man.  Our church is based upon the 1689 Second London Baptist confession of faith and the ‘Doctrines of Grace’, sometimes called the five points of Calvinism.

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, containing all that is necessary for men and women to know to understand their need for salvation, how that salvation is to be found, and how to live for him, both now and into eternity.

We believe that salvation is entirely the work of a gracious and loving God towards undeserving, indeed hell-deserving, sinners. We acknowledge that men and women are incapable of choosing to obey God’s commands unless God himself works in their hearts to give new life, spiritual life, as a gift.

We also recognise the need to be obedient to the command of the Lord Jesus to “make disciples of all nations” through preaching and promoting the good news that the Son of God has taken upon himself the punishment deserved by guilty sinners, so that they might receive forgiveness and the gift of his righteousness. God has ordained that his people will be saved and that it is primarily through the preaching of this gospel that they will be brought to trust in Christ alone for salvation.
